Why stories, and not another list of things to buy.
Every gift site on the internet ranks products. We think that’s close to the least useful thing you can publish about giving, because the gift almost never explains itself — the person does, and the moment does.
So this is an archive of what people actually gave, in their own words, with what happened afterwards. Some of the best entries have nothing in them you can buy at all.
How this is kept
Every submission is read by a person before it appears. We strip links automatically — all of them, always — so nobody can advertise here by writing a story around a product.
We publish a page only once it has 5 real accounts on it. That’s why some occasions aren’t here yet: an almost-empty page is worse than a missing one, both for you and for us.
We may fix a typo or trim for length. We won’t rewrite what someone said.
How this pays for itself
Advertising on some pages, and occasionally a commission if you buy something we’ve linked to. That never affects which stories appear, we don’t accept paid placements, and no story here is sponsored.
Where a story mentions something you can buy, any link is one we added afterwards — not one the person submitting chose. It’s marked as such.
